Sunsets
"Fort at Sunset" The scene I composed has a single, prominent fort positioned centrally within my painting's mid-ground. I painted the fort as a dark silhouette, creating a strong contrast against the lighter colours of the water and sky. The viewer's eye is naturally drawn to the tower, as it stands out against the background. On a small island, two small, barren trees are visible to the left of the fort. The water stretches to the horizon line, with subtle gradations of yellowish-orange hues from the sky, which reflects the colours across the water. The mountains in the distant background are depicted as dark silhouettes against the sky's pale yellow and orange hues, creating a sense of depth and perspective. I used pastels as my artistic medium to emphasise the soft transitions of colours and a simple but well-defined style with clear lines and shapes. The overall mood is peaceful, serene, and contemplative. 16X22.7cm
